Search engine marketing and advertising isn't brain surgery, but it can be rather demanding. It is an industry which must adjust whenever Google alters its algorithm (last year Google modified it three hundred times). Successful search engine optimization (SEO) involves creativity, specific technical knowledge, well-informed and analyzed marketing strategies, and a sense of when to follow, flex, and break the rules.
Intergrating these parts of SEO with can be complicated, and so Minttwist is spreading a few ideas that have truly helped us out.
Do not use black hat SEO! Virtually every person in the sector has heard scary stories of clients losing nearly all their ranking overnight. Why would Google suddenly reject so many hard earned links ? Generally, the only time Google does this kind of devaluation is when a website has been caught using black hat methods.
Black hat just means gaming the system, and looking to get around the rules Google has set up. If Google discovers your site has been partaking in such practices it will almost certainly remove you from its search positions. The main reason to stay away from underhanded approaches is since they often wind up proving ineffective.
Get involved in forums and social media. Engaging with peers and customers alike is critical for the search engine marketer. Granted, traditional forums have not been cool or leading edge for a blog decade at this point, but there are places on the internet that provide a similar function.
LinkedIn Answers, relevant blogs, Formspring, Twitter and certain classic forums are great examples of these sort of websites. Understanding was meant to be discussed, so do it! This will bring in more clients and increase your impact on the web.
Never forget non-SEO techniques. SEO is still a business, and it is important not to get totally ensconsed in the specifics of the industry that one disregards time tested wisdom from other niches.
